Meet Meghan from @closeupskincare , a standout beauty creator on Iris. Meghan describes herself as an introvert who loves sharing content about fun and trendy beauty products.
How would you describe yourself as a creator?
“I would describe myself as the most introverted creator that ever was. I love sharing fun new products but I’m a behind-the-scenes type of person so although I’m reserved, I’m still going to showcase fun products the best I can, albeit, faceless most of the time!”
What led you to join the beauty community?
“I got started in skincare and makeup through retail, as I worked at a beauty counter for almost 5 years. When I left that job in 2020, I missed keeping up with all the latest trends and fun new releases so I joined the skincare community on social media!”
What's your favorite thing about Iris?
“I love being able to view the top products all around, for example, there’s always a way to see bestsellers on sites like Sephora or Ulta but it will always be limited to the brands that they sell. The fun and unique thing about Iris is that you can see the most loved product from any brand sold at any store/website! It's fun to see how kbeauty can be ranked amongst western brands as well.”
What are your top three beauty products of the moment?
“Topicals faded serum because it's a lifesaver for anyone who gets pih, laneige cream skin refiner because I have terribly dry skin and we just entered fall in Toronto, so I really need the extra layer of moisture, and the d’alba white truffle first spray serum because it is the perfect product for rehydrating during the day and leaves a stunning glow!”
What's something you want your followers to know about you?
“That I’m always learning! The skincare game is constantly changing and new ingredients and technology are always being added so I’m always learning from others in the community, whether that is the best tips and tricks or products to try. There's always something new to learn.”
What's your favorite thing about the Iris community?
“How welcoming everyone is! it's so much fun to interact with other users, and anytime I’ve ever asked a question on someone’s review or routine, the responses I've received are always so sweet, and the recommendations are always amazing. It really comes back to how genuine the users are, its a really wonderful community. ”
What's your favorite beauty trend of the moment?
“It has to be the dewy natural skin look, I did the full coverage matte look for a long time but sometimes, I need my skin to be lathered in a rich cream with minimal base products. The dewy look is also my favourite trend because as a dry skin type, I can layer up all the products I would like and it's still on trend.”
Do you have a game changing beauty tip that leveled up your makeup or skincare routine?
“This might sound so basic, but proper exfoliation. I struggled with closed comedones for years, but once I learned how to use AHA’s, and more recently, vitamin A’s my skin has been so much happier. Skincare always comes first before makeup for me so once I tackled those, my makeup game was also changed!”
