Meet AnnaMaria from @rusky1415, a standout beauty creator on Iris. We had the opportunity to Interview AnnaMaria, and love her unique point of view in the beauty space. She inspires us to be comfortable in our own skin and to stay inspired by the unique people we meet in the beauty community.
How would you describe yourself as a creator?
“I have fun and enjoy creating content about beauty and skincare. For a long time I focused on the products and did not show my face much at all on my posts. I would not go out of my house without makeup. I am trying to be more comfortable in my own skin as I get older. So now I am posting reels and pictures of myself without makeup more regularly. When I see other content creators doing this I feel they are vulnerable, yet honest and brave. So I guess they have inspired me to be true to myself and not worry so much about appearances.”
What led you to join the beauty community?
“I began by signing up for freebies many years ago. (I’ve been a BzzAgent since 2007 and my first Instagram post in 2015 was a VoxBox from Influenster). More and more of the free offerings were beauty products. I joined more and more programs. I started posting more frequently on Instagram about 3 years ago and following more beauty content creators. I have learned so much from the people I follow about skincare and ingredients. Now I’m obsessed with all things beauty and skincare!”
What's your favorite thing about Iris?
“I enjoy the camaraderie with like minded folks. I post reviews and routines, but I enjoy the comments I receive and feedback from others. I like seeing when other people post products I have used and tried and seeing what their opinions about those items are. Sometimes they have different views from me, but that is totally ok. We are all different and valuable in our own unique ways.”
What are your top three beauty products of the moment?
“1- I love eyeshadow sticks, they are so quick and easy and you usually do not have to use a primer to prevent creasing. 2 - I love lip oils. They are glossy, but not sticky and last a long time providing nice hydration. 3 - One of my favorite ingredients is Squalane. It makes my skin feel so good, hydrated and moisturized.”
What's something you want your followers to know about you?
“I love being creative. I am a woodturner (I make handcrafted wooden bowls on a lathe), I love to crochet, I enjoy painting and many forms of crafting. It is so fun to make something out of seemingly nothing. I also love hiking and spending time outdoors. I have so many interests beyond the beauty world.”
What's your favorite thing about the Iris community?
“Like I mentioned before I love the camaraderie and have enjoyed getting to know some of the community members a little better. Everyone seems so positive in this community so far. I really have enjoyed watching it grow and develop taking into account the advice and recommendations from the users of the app. It is becoming better and better all along.”
What's your favorite beauty trend of the moment?
“I love shimmers, whether it be in eyeshadow, lip gloss, highlighter, etc.”
Do you have a game changing beauty tip that leveled up your makeup or skincare routine?
“A tip I learned recently to avoid getting lip products on your teeth after application is to stick your finger in your mouth and gently close your lips around it and then pull your finger out. You may have to repeat a couple of times, but it keeps lipstick or other lip products from getting on your teeth quite well.”
